Searching information about SCF and EFSA opinions and FDA status

This page can be used to search for opinions issues by the SCF and the EFSA and to obtain the FDA status. WARNING: Use the presence or absence only as an INDICATION. One should always check the text in the legislation. Even when a component is presented here as listed, it may have restrictions not mentioned here. Not (yet) included in the FDA status are components covered by private letters, prior sanctioned, FCN, GRASS and TOR. Compliance testing is expert work, one should decide for themselves if you may call yourself an expert in food contact material.

CAS number (at least 3 characters):
 
Be careful: some components are not listed under their individual component name (and CAS number) but are listed as a group of component (like alcohols (C12-C16) ethoxylated (EO2- EO12). These group listing are normally not registered under a CAS number.

Please be carefull; components can have many systematic and non-systematic names. Irganox 1076 for example has many alternative names like: octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate, 3-(3',5'-di-tert-butyl-4'-hydroxyphenyl)propionic acid, 3,5-Bis(1,1-dimethylethyl)-4-hydroxybenzenepropanoic acid octadecyl ester; octadecyl 3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate; octadecyl 3,5-Di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyhydrocinnamate;
Furthermore, names can be written as British English or as US English
